Brundage Sets New Record for February Snowfall, Neither February nor Snowfall are Over Yet

02/25/19

The storm that’s been pounding the Central Mountains with fresh snow since Friday, February 22 continues to dump copious amounts on powder on Brundage Mountain. As of 9 am on Tuesday, February 26th, Brundage has received 42 inches of fresh snow at the base area’s 6,000 foot elevation. That brings the total snowfall for the month of February to 140 inches, more than three times the monthly average.

Here are some more statistics as of Tuesday, February 26:

New snow since 5 pm Sunday: 20”

New snow since 5 pm Saturday: 36”

New snow since 5 pm Friday: 42”

New snow last 7 days: 50”

Total season snowfall at 6,000 feet elevation: 287”

Total season snowfall last season (2017-18): 247”

Brundage measures season snowfall from late October through closing day, which is usually in mid- to late-April. The current record of 430” of season snowfall was set in 1998-99. The biggest snow year in recent memory was 2007-2008, with 428″.

“It’s far too soon to tell whether we’ll hit a season-long record for total snowfall,” said resort spokesperson, April Whitney. “But one thing is certain: people who love powder are as stoked as we’ve ever seen them, and that’s more important to us than any statistic.”

In case you missed it, here’s a recap of our fresh snow since Friday:

Big powder dumps mean heightened hazards on the mountain. Please refresh your safety protocol and awareness of deep snow and tree well dangers.
