Brundage Mountain Doubles Down on Spring Stoke with Two Signature Events in April

03/22/19

Skier falls while pond skimmingSunny days and great slope conditions are bringing out the spirit of springtime at Brundage Mountain. A series of signature events will keep the springtime vibes rolling through mid-April.

Pond Skimming & Crazy Daze – Saturday, April 6

Brundage Mountain’s 13th Annual Pond Skimming Competition takes place Saturday, April 6. Pond skimming is the centerpiece of the resort’s decades-long Crazy Daze tradition. Other Crazy Daze events include the Beer Relay, Photo Scavenger Hunt, Family Fun Poker Run and of course, the annual costume contest. Prizes are awarded for each event. The Pond Skimming champion takes home a 2019/20 Season Pass.

Idaho State Championship Gelande Quaff – Saturday, April 13

The party continues April 13 as Brundage Mountain hosts the second annual Idaho State Championship Gelande Quaff. Sponsored by Payette Brewing, this event has been described as the ‘most athletic drinking game in the world.”

gelande quaffFor those not familiar, Gelande Quaffing is a team sport. Members slide a full mug of beer down a long table, catch the mug, and drink the beer. Rounds are timed. Points are awarded for each mug caught, beer consumed without spillage and the level of style employed during each of these feats.

“This is our favorite new event at Brundage Mountain,” said resort spokesperson, April Whitney. “Whether you choose to compete or just watch the spectacle, it’s a riot.”

Prizes are awarded but the real competition is for bragging rights. Live music will finish off the afternoon, with the popular Dodgy Mountain Men returning to Brundage for what promises to be another fun show.

Other Spring Events include:

SheJumps Wild Skills Junior Ski Patrol – Saturday, March 30

Trivia Night at Smoky’s Bar & Grill – Thursday, April 11
