Midweek Vibe: Unlimited Hot Laps
Good morning skiers and riders, and welcome to your Tuesday morning snow report from Brundage! We’re looking at another beauty of a day today where high pressure is the weather system, but there’s no pressure and no stress on-hill … just high vibes. It’s a great day for hot laps unencumbered by crowds; the mountain world is your oyster today. We’re 100% open, and it’s all waiting for you whenever you decide to make your midweek mosey on up here.
We started 2026 off strong with several feet of snow … big stacks, big facts. That accumulation set us up for success with what was to come: clear skies and clear views with a plenty of of space to stretch those carving legs. We are now officially settled into a high pressure hiatus from precip. The snow ghosts near the base have been gradually shedding their layers, branch by branch, with their counterparts higher up clinging to the snow like a mama bird with a fear of an empty nest. We’re expecting high temperatures to continue to increase today, with today’s forecast calling for low 40s in the sun with light wind. Surface conditions will vary today if you venture off-piste, and depend on time of day, elevation, and aspect of the sun. Underfoot could feel like fluffy soft chalky packed powder, whipped cream cheese untouched by skis but textured by the sun, or some birthday cake frosting that was left out on the counter overnight (treated with a thaw and then refreeze when the solar birthday candle went out). If you feel like wide open spaces with a more consistent feel, groomers will be your best bet.
Whether it’s piste or parks, grooming operations have been dialed in these past few days. Freestyle flavors are available in Bear, Jammer, and Easy Street parks. It’s a prefect day to practice those moves for the upcoming Best Trick Pony park competition this weekend. And for those craving the carve and the buttery flavor profile of freshly cut corduroy, the Grooming Report is your best bet to see what was most recently tilled for turns.
If you’re getting tired of searching for leftover powder stashes like a student figuring out how to use the Dewey Decimal System for the first time, now may be a great time to look into that backcountry cat trip and let us provide the call numbers. Check out this link for details.
With truly some of the Best Snow in Idaho (and one of the highest percentages of terrain open) right now, this is a Tuesday for turns!
Thanks for reading, and see you on the hill,
– AL Brundy
The following is how we classify grooming at Brundage Mountain Resort:
Groomed this morning: The run/trail has been groomed after 12:01am today.
Groomed last night: The run/trail was groomed between 4:01pm and 11:59pm, after the lifts closed.
Open: The run/trail is open for skiing/riding but has had no grooming operations on it.
Closed: STAY OUT OF THIS TERRAIN. Runs marked closed have not been deemed safe for the public to be on.
Upon entering CLOSED terrain, it jeopardizes Brundage Mountain Patrol’s ability to provide aid to you. Your skiing and riding privileges will also be at risk when entering closed terrain.
Early season conditions exist. It is highly reccommended to stick to open and groomed terrain. Off-piste skiing and riding is not recommended at this time.
