A New Twist for our Mountain Biking Trails

06/29/11

We’re pretty bummed out that we can’t open our regular downhill mountain bike trails for opening day (see our previous two blog posts for more on how deep snow is standing in our way)…BUT we are super excited to announce a brand new mountain biking experience that is in the works right now.

Because the snow has been keeping us off the upper mountain, our trail crews are working to craft a “Four-cross” course on the lower mountain.

Four-cross is like boardercross for bikes. The idea is that up to four bikers could charge this course at the same time. It features a wider riding surface and some smooth bank turns, for starters. Once all of our trails are open, this will be accessible from the Hidden Valley trail. (Black Diamond)

We do expect this new portion of trail to be ready for tomorrow’s Grand Opening, but we are recommending that only advanced and expert riders use this trail right now.

Since it’s so new, it’s still soft and sponge-y. If you’re amply skilled and willing to give it a go, we’d love to have you ride it and tell us what you think.

How do you get there? Stop by the Bike Shop and ask for Jon – he’ll give you good directions on how to access the trail from the base area. It’s not too much of a hike – and you could earn bragging rights as one of the first to ever ride this brand new course.
