A Picture-Perfect Adventure!

07/01/11

Are you looking for something new and exciting to do this 4th of July weekend?

Head on up for a scenic chairlift ride at Brundage Mountain and you’ll be treated to a romp in the snow!

The forecast is absolutely perfect – sunshine and warm temperatures – and this may be your last chance to see all the late-season snow still blanketing the summit of Brundage Mountain.

There’s still several feet of snow up on the summit, but we’ve cleared the snow from around the lift and on the ridge-top road, so you can hike around and enjoy these rare July snow-capped views.

The summit ridge is accessible for sight-seers of all ages, especially if you head south from the top of the Blue Bird.

Looking to the north, you can get a feel for how much snow would be there had we not plowed out an unloading area.

If you feel like exploring over the snowpack, we recommend taking a cue from these folks who joined us for our Grand Opening on Thursday.

Snowshoes are the only equipment we’re loading on the chairlift right now. Because of the slope conditions, we can’t allow skis, snowboards, sleds, tubes or bikes at this time.

As this photo shows, while there’s still deep snow on the top, depths on the slopes are very inconsistent.

We hope to have our mountain bike trails open soon. In the meantime, head up to enjoy views like this:

Or enjoy a picnic in our grassy, green base area.

We kicked off the weekend with a barbeque and live music.

Jeff Crosby set the mood with a couple of groovy sets.

Jeff is one of the headliners of our summer music festival, the Idaho-Down, set for August 5 & 6. Learn More.

Hundreds of people joined us for our opening day, including some of our favorite families.

It looks like there are blue skies ahead for the rest of the weekend, so head on up, because this year, the Best Snow in Idaho is STILL waiting for you!
