TWO FEET and Counting...

01/18/12

Yesterday, we celebrated our first bonafide powder day of the season.

Today, Mother Nature decided to double down and put that to shame by dumping another 16 inches of fresh snow on our beloved mountain.

Slopes were soft and powdery from top to bottom and powderhounds showed up in force to enjoy this gift from above.

Today, we had SO much snow, it wasn’t even necessary to head off trail to find deep fluff and face shots!

It snowed at a rate of more than an inch an hour for most of the day, so finding ‘untracked’ lines was also a non-issue – the tracks filled in right behind us and even tracked lines were soft and forgiving.

In the sweetest of sweet spots, the sensation was one of being suspended in the air, in a place where the rules of gravity simply don’t apply.

Normally, the most dedicated powder lovers would be feasting on these turns with a ravenous appetite and frantically searching out the best powder lines before the next guy could find them.

But today, there was a different sort of grateful, joyful vibe. The level of appreciation was high, the level of anxiety, low.

Because everyone here had heard the news. This blast of plentiful powder is just the beginning – and we’ve got days upon days to enjoy what Winter has FINALLY decided to deliver.

(Another 1 to 2 FEET is expected in the next 36 hours or so. You can check out the latest forecast here.)

See you tomorrow!
