A little bit of fresh snow made a MOUNTAIN of a difference here at Brundage Mountain today. We had 2″ come down yesterday and another 3″ by mid-day today. Not the kind of snow totals that get your heart racing. But maybe they should.

We had amazing snow conditions today. The groomed runs  were soft and forgiving.

Off-trail, early birds and powderhounds got lots of soft, dreamy…(and sometimes) even DEEP turns.

Here are some photo highlights from one of the best mornings of the season…

These folks were out early to enjoy the soft, graceful turns on Alpine.

Skiers were kicking up this kind of fluff from those little off-trail spots right beside the groomers.

There was a little layer of fluff even on top of the manicured runs..

And it was hard to resist diving in the powder under the lift lines.

But…Those who hopped WAY off trail found the snow got way, WAY better.

I should probably tell you that all of these off-piste shots were taken in just two runs.

I’d hate for you to think that we spent all day scoping out fresh lines for a photo shoot. (And yes, that is an 8-year-old kid rockin’ the pow.)

You’re probably wondering how it’s possible that 5″ of fresh snow produces conditions like this. It’s because we got some really cold temperatures to dry out the snow underneath…here’s an explanation from earlier this week.

So I’ll just mention that the forecast is calling for another 3-7 inches overnight tonight…and I’ll let the rest of these photos speak for themselves:
