A Message from General Manager, Ken Rider

Here we are April 20. We have been closed just over one month due to the COVID-19 crisis. One week past what would have been our target official closing day of April 12 for the 2019- 2020 Winter season. A lot has changed over the last 30+ days. There is still a ton of snow on the mountain and there still remains a great deal of uncertainty for what the future will look like…what will be our new normal this summer and beyond?

On Friday, I took most of the day to tour the entire mountain and base area to see how everything is holding up. It is unfortunate to think only about how great the last month of skiing would have been. We received almost three feet of snow since the closure and the weather has been fantastic. We had a ton of great events lined up and almost every event day lined up with fantastic spring skiing weather, sunny with fresh snow.

Most importantly, Brundage did the right thing for our staff, our community, and our guests when we closed on March 17.

It was not an easy task to go from having a great year to a screeching halt to all operations. There are 470 ski areas in the US that did the same thing we are not alone in this everyone is doing their part to Stop the Spread and Crush the Curve.

Our team is busy working on plans for what the future will look like this summer. Currently, we are targeting June 20 as our summer opening date. Naturally, that will depend on the latest guidance from Governor Brad Little and the CDC. Be safe everyone, stay focused on the challenges we face and stay tuned for updates to summer operation plans over the next few weeks and months. We are all in this together.
