Winter 2024/25: One for the History Books
The Brundage faithful wrapped up the 2024/25 Winter Season on Sunday, April 13, with a combination of sunshine and camaraderie that’s truly hard to beat.
As we look back on this long, satisfying season, some of the most vivid memories we’ll carry with us are of good times shared with friends and family. Of course, we’ll also cherish the memories of pristine powder and fresh-pressed corduroy!
We had an early start this season and amazing snow coverage all year. But how will the winter of 2024/25 go down in the history books?
Let’s go to the stat sheet for some fun facts:
Total Season Snowfall is Best in 6 Years

February 2025
Our beloved mountain wrapped up the season with 353 inches of total snowfall at the Lakeview snow marker. That is the most snow we’ve had since 2018/19, which brought 375 inches of total season snowfall.
Many of you probably remember season… We were truly Februburied with 152 inches of snow falling in that short month alone.
The month of February was tons of fun again this season, with 102 inches of snow piling on in those 28 days. Brundage celebrated the 200-Inch mark on February 3, 2025.
Exceptionally Snowy November = Earliest Opening Day in 19 Years

November 2024
The 2024/25 season was undeniably superior to most ski seasons in one category: November snowfall. November 2024 was the snowiest November in at least 15 years, with 70 inches of snow falling at the summit and 60 inches at the base.
That laid the groundwork for Brundage Mountain’s earliest opening in 19 years. The Bluebird Express opened this year on November 22, and our incredible mountain ops teams had the entire mountain open this season by Friday, November 29. How fun is that?
A Memorable March (But Not Quite a Miracle March)
Longtime Brundage skiers know that March can often be the best month of the season for snow conditions, and this year proved that theory true. This season’s snowfall total for the month of March was 67”. That’s an impressive (and truly enjoyable) amount of snow for March…but…it doesn’t measure up to the Miracle March of 2022/23, which saw 89 inches of fresh snow, matching that season’s January and February totals combined.
Brundage Mountain’s Snowfall and Weather Data Got an Upgrade
Skiers and snowboarders at Brundage Mountain Resort may not know it, but they benefited from more accurate snow measurements and improved on-mountain conditions throughout the 2024/25 season, thanks to a new high-tech weather station installed in partnership with Cryosphere Geophysics and Remote Sensing (CryoGARS) group at Boise State University.

The new scientific-grade weather station, located near the unload area at the top of the Lakeview Triple, came fully online for the 2024/25 season. It collects precise data on snow depth, snow water equivalent, wind speed and direction, (things skiers care about) and other variables like solar radiation and snow mechanics (that researchers and scientists care about).
In day-to-day terms, this data helps Brundage snow reporters give the most accurate snow measurements possible. It also gives the grooming team the ability to adjust operations and deliver the best slope conditions on any given day. Avalanche forecasters have better data to assess risks for backcountry travel, giving our Ski Patrol better insights into how to safely open Hidden Valley and enhancing safety for our guided backcountry snowcat and snowmobile adventures.
The partnership also provides data crucial to the Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of Defense, and even NASA. The site also provides a wonderful outdoor classroom for students who take Boise State University’s Snow Science Field Methods course, which based out of the McCall Outdoor Science School (MOSS) for two extended weekends this winter.
We’ll be sharing more details on this partnership soon, so keep an eye on the blog and your email inbox to learn more about how this partnership is benefitting both Brundage, Boise State, the local backcountry community.
