“Dream Scenario”: Brundage Mountain Opens 100% of Terrain As Winter Storms Drop Two Feet of Fresh Snow
Winter storms that dropped more than two feet of fresh powder on Brundage Mountain over the last five days have allowed the independently owned resort to open 100 percent of its terrain.
Brundage, the home of the Best Snow in IdahoTM, has been operating seven days a week since Friday November 22 and has had all chairlifts in operation since Friday, November 29.
“We’ve had more than 90% of our terrain open for a while now,” says Brundage General Manager, Ken Rider. “This last wave of storms allowed our team to mitigate and open the last few remaining expert runs in Hidden Valley and buff out the slopes on the rest of the mountain. Slope conditions are truly top-notch right now.”
Hidden Valley is Brundage Mountain’s experts-only area that features a wide range of terrain types and a limited amount of grooming. Brundage Mountain has 1,920 acres of lift-accessed terrain and 1,921 feet of vertical.
Reaching the 100% open mark so early is the latest in a list of impressive milestones hit already in the 2024/25 winter season:
- November 22, 2024 – Earliest opening date and earliest full-time (seven day a week) opening in 19 years.
- November 29, 2024 – All chairlifts open. First time in history that the Lakeview Triple and Centennial Express chairlifts opened prior to December.
- November 1 – 30 – Snowiest November in more than 20 years. (60” at base, 70” at the summit)
- December 17, 2024 – Brundage Mountain reaches 100% open status.
Last season, the resort didn’t reach the 100% open milestone until January 13 (2024).
“This is the dream scenario heading into Winter Break,” says Rider. “Not only will skiers and snowboarders have 100% of our terrain to enjoy, but it looks like there’s a lot more fresh snow headed our way, too.”
Brundage is just four inches away from its next exciting milestone, 100 inches of base area snowfall. As of Tuesday, December 17, the resort has logged 96” of base area snowfall with snow expected the rest of the day and overnight.
Forecasters are predicting up to a foot of additional snow from a series of new storms headed toward Brundage between Saturday, December 21 to Thursday, December 26.

NEW DATE – Annual Light Up the Night Celebration
Brundage Mountain has chosen a new date for its annual Light Up the Night celebration, which features a dazzling slopeside fireworks show, a torchlight parade, and a kid’s glowstick parade. The event was originally scheduled for New Year’s Eve but was moved to New Year’s Day, January 1, 2025, to avoid a conflict with the Boise State Bronco’s appearance in the first-ever 12 team college football playoff. (Go Broncos!)
Party-goers have the option of taking the Bluebird Express Shuttle between Brundage and McCall, as shuttle service has been extended for the event. Learn More
