A seemingly endless series of storms has dumped copious amounts of powder on Brundage Mountain, giving the resort its second snowiest February since monthly totals have been recorded. Brundage Mountain got measurable snowfall on 21 out of the 28 days in February, with a total of 88 inches of new accumulation at the base elevation and 93 inches at the summit.

That’s nearly three feet above the average February snow totals.

“February 12 was when the spigot really turned on, with nearly 7 feet of fresh snow falling since that point,” said resort spokesperson, April Whitney. “Our summit snow depth is now well over 10 feet, which sets us up really nicely for the final six weeks of ski season.”

Snow depths range from 92 inches at the base to 125 inches at the top of the mountain.  

The title for #1 snowiest February at Brundage Mountain was set just two years ago. The resort logged 152 inches of snowfall in February of 2019.

“Comparing snowfall totals from year to year is always fun,” added Whitney. “But the light, dry quality of this snow is just as exciting as the quantity. Right now, people who love powder are as stoked as we’ve ever seen them, and that’s more important to us than any statistic.”

Don’t expect the snow showers to dry up just because March is arriving. March brings an average of 45 inches of fresh snow to Brundage Mountain.

“Ski season has been a bright spot for many people in a complicated year,” added Whitney. “That doesn’t need to change just because we’re turning the page on the calendar. There’s lots of great skiing and riding ahead of us in the next 6 weeks.”

Brundage measures season snowfall from late October through closing day, which is usually in early to mid-April. The current record of 428” of season snowfall was set in 2007-2008.
