Brundage Mountain: From Dream to Reality

08/29/12

Boy, have times changed!  In 1958, partners Warren Brown, Corey Engen, and Jack Simplot sought approval to build a ski resort from the US Forest Service.

In two short years, the three partners received all of the approvals necessary to build Brundage Mountain Ski Area.

When the snow melted in May of 1961, a ski lift was installed, lodge built, water, sewer, and electricity brought to the mountain, and employees hired.  Amazingly, in less than seven months, and with an expenditure of $215,000, Brundage Mountain Ski Area opened to the public on Thanksgiving Day, 1961.

How did the three men pull together such a feat in such a short time?

That’s just one of the stories you’ll read in our new book, Brundage Mountain: The Best Snow in Idaho. Brundage Mountain is proud to announce the release of the book on Saturday, October 6 at Shore Lodge, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

A second release party will be held in Boise on Tuesday, October 9 at the Idaho Historical Museum at noon. Author Eve Chandler will be available to sign books at both events. Those unable to attend can purchase on-line here.
