Brundage Mountain Celebrates Spring with Cool Competitions & Slopeside Shenanigans

03/25/24

Spring is in full swing in Idaho’s West Central Mountains, as a flurry of fun events promise to complement the great snow conditions at Brundage Mountain.

This year’s spring events include family-friendly activities like Brundage Mountain’s long-standing Easy Street Easter Egg Hunt and the newer Cardboard Classic, along with more rowdy events like the Gaper Day Gelande Quaff and Beer Relay competitions.

“We’re trying to mix up the menu of events to keep things fresh and fun,” says Brundage Mountain General Manager, Ken Rider. “Whether folks come to participate or just spectate, spring always brings a jovial vibe to the slopes.”

SIGNATURE SPRING EVENTS:

Saturday, March 30: The Gaper Day Brewlympic Games – ALL DAY

One of Brundage Mountain’s most boisterous celebrations takes place Saturday, March 30. The resort’s official “Gaper Day” features what organizers call “the most athletic drinking games ever imagined”.

The family-friendly Root Beer Relay kicks off the day’s events, followed by the adults-only Beer Relay and the ever-popular Gelande Quaff event. This timed event pits teams of four against each other in a head-to-head format. Competitors slide a large mug of beer off the end of a long table, where their teammate attempts to catch it and chug it before the next player starts their turn. Style points are key to moving on to the next round and as teams advance, the competition gets increasingly comical. Learn more

Sunday, March 31: Easy Street Easter Egg Hunt – 11 am sharp

The competition is no less fierce on Sunday, as hundreds of children swarm the Easy Street area in search of candy-filled eggs and the coveted Golden Eggs that can be redeemed for prizes. There are two age groups to give everyone a fair chance. Kids aged 5 and under can search for eggs in their snow boots (and get a five minute head start) in one area. Kids aged 10 and under on skis or snowboards compete to find the eggs hidden across the entire Easy Street area. Learn more

Saturday, April 6: The Jammer Sessions – Terrain Park Event – 11:00 am

Freestyle skiers and snowboarders of all ages are invited to show off their skills and style in this open session-style competition in Brundage Mountain’s Jammer Terrain Park. Registration opens at 10:00 am, there will be an open division and separate divisions for those 15 & under and 16 and over. Helmets are required for all competitors. More details added soon

Saturday, April 13: Brundage Cardboard Classic – 1:00 pm

Art and engineering come together for Brundage Mountain’s second annual Cardboard Classic, where points are awarded for the vessel that comes closest to a target and looks cool doing it! Participants are invited to build a vessel made ONLY out of cardboard, duct tape, string, twine and paint. The objective is to navigate the course on Easy Street, and finish as close as possible to the target at the bottom, with all teammates intact. Extra points are given for creativity and enthusiasm. Saturday, April 14: Closing Day Toast and Last Tracks Fun Run – 4:00 pm

Brundage Mountain plans to close out the season with a celebration of community and gratitude. Participants are invited to grab a beverage of their choice and meet at the summit at 4 pm for a toast to the season and a group run down Main Street. Learn more
