An Affair to Remember!

12/30/10

Winter must be cold for those with no warm memories.

~From the movie An Affair to Remember

This week, we’ve had tons of snow and very chilly temperatures, but we’ve certainly had no lack of warm memories! Last night, we were proud to celebrate 50 Years with our “Light Up the Night” party.

We had about 1,500 people show up (or stick around) to celebrate the occasion with us. It was touch and go for a while because we’d been getting POUNDED with snow. We had three feet in three days leading up to the event, then suddenly, a couple hours before the light show, skies cleared up.

That was a real relief for spectators, most of whom gathered outside to enjoy the torchlight parade and fireworks show. (Up until that point, it had been snowing almost an inch an hour for the better part of three days.)

But by the time the fireworks were underway, the snow had disappeared and we even saw some stars in the sky!

While some people may remember the cold weather, others are more likely to remember sharing the occasion with family…

and with close friends…

Sharing good times in a place they love.

We’re quite confident that an equal number of people will remember this week for the amazing powder and the time they spent on the slopes…

Or for the special little moments – like this one:

Six-year-old Chase Henderson was visiting from Houston, Texas. He is a loyal blog follower and was so excited to discover the location of our famous snowcam, he had this photo taken with his grandpa, Glenn Higby of Garden Valley. They’ll never forget the 18 inches of snow we got that day, and while it was cold out during this photo, you can see the warmth on their faces and in their smiles.

So while winter may be cold for those with no warm memories, we’re feeling pretty cozy right about now. Thanks for sharing your time with us this holiday season!

Special thanks to LMP Photography who shot many of these photos (and pretty much all of the really good ones.) LMP would be happy to help you remember your family time on the mountain with their custom photography services.
