Say Hello to Zach Miller: A Familiar Face Takes the Helm at the MTN Sports School

11/05/25

Help us give a warm Brundage welcome to Zach Miller, the new Director of our MTN Sports School. His Brundage roots run deep, and we’re lucky to have him leading the team that helps start so many on their skiing and snowboarding journeys.

Zach brings more than a decade of experience in snow sports instruction, mountain safety, and outdoor leadership to his new role as Director of the MTN Sports School at Brundage Mountain Resort. A PSIA Level 3 Alpine Instructor with Freestyle and Children’s Teaching Specialist certifications, Zach is known for his ability to connect with students and build high-functioning teams rooted in trust, communication, and shared purpose.

For Zach, stepping into this role feels like coming home. He first learned to ski at Brundage in the early 1990s when his father was stationed at Mountain Home AFB — back when the beginner area had a tow rope that wore through plenty of gloves. “Those early experiences shaped who I am,” he says. “They’re the reason I came back to Idaho as an adult, and why I care so deeply about helping the next generation fall in love with skiing.”

Zach’s background is uniquely broad, spanning roles as a professional river guide, ski patroller, and instructor. His years in patrol leadership honed his decision-making and team-building skills, while his earlier work in the outdoor retail and paddle-sports industry taught him the value of exceptional customer service. Together, these experiences give him a well-rounded understanding of how the resort works and what guests value most.

As a leader, Zach values the independent spirit of Brundage. “Being part of a locally owned resort means you can see the impact of every decision you make,” he says. “It fosters a team mindset that carries through every department — and that’s what makes Brundage such a special place.”

When he’s not on the slopes, Zach can be found outdoors with his dog, Gus, exploring Idaho’s whitewater or restoring the dory in his garage. A McCall local, he appreciates the small-town community, the rhythm of the seasons, and the endless opportunities for adventure right outside his door.
