SPRING skiing - Finally!

04/23/11

Making turns in the sunshine is always a great way to spend a Saturday. But after all the snow we’ve had this Spring, today seemed extra special.

Hundreds of smiling skiers and snowboarders (and even some snow bike riders) turned out to enjoy the brilliant weather and excellent slope conditions.

And while smiles are nothing new at Brundage Mountain, the warm weather meant we didn’t have to peer through bundles of clothes to see them.

The groomed runs started out smooth and silky this morning.

“Like December snow and May weather,” commented one of our ski school instructors.

We got 4″ of fresh snow on Thursday, but aside from the first turns on the upper mountain, the off-trail skiing was not great.

Still, the beautiful weather and carvalicious corduroy brought out some enthusiastic crowds.

It was also an ideal day for some hot-dogging.While enjoying a spectacular view.

Not to mention some serious photo ops.

We also found some big smiles on the beginner slopes – among those embracing the sport from the beginning.

By mid-afternoon, the action shifted down to the lower parking lot.

Spring barbecues are a tradition. This guy is really glamming things up with the flowers.

It’s an all-ages event on what we like to call ‘barbecue row”.

Even the little guys were optimistic that a stray hot dog might come their way.

Some people ushered in our first true Spring day with some relaxing tunes…

Others greeted the warmth with bare shoulders!

No matter where I turned today I saw smiling people having fun with their friends.

And sharing the fruits of their high-horsepower labors!

Cheers!
