SPRING Powder!

04/16/11

If there’s one thing you can count on in the springtime, it’s unpredictable weather. We picked up 1″-3″ of moisture-rich snow overnight, on top of 7″ of dry, fluffy powder from earlier in the week.

So instead of the wintery snow surface we expected, we got true SPRING conditions today.

And as usual, the early birds got the pick of the fresh lines.

Check out the stampede on Alpine. The groomed runs are soft and creamy today – it actually does feel like spring snow underfoot!

Off-trail, it’s all about the elevation. Up on top, we enjoyed some smooth Cascade-style powder turns.

Lower on the mountain, the snow gets heavier and bears more of a resemblance to chowder than powder.

Still, with pleasant temperatures and even a glimpse of blue sky, our skiers and riders are having a blast today.

This time of year, it’s hard to predict what conditions will be like tomorrow (or even a few hours from now). The one thing I know FOR SURE…if you’re not here, you will miss out on some fun!
