Face Shots and Sweet Spots

03/27/11

Today’s powder is so sweet that I’m having a hard time finding the words to describe it…

Fluffy, forgiving, epic, hero snow…

We got 7″ overnight, on top of 5″ from yesterday.

Powder was at least boot-deep just about everywhere, and knee-deep or more in the sweet spots, with a few face shots thrown in to REALLY get our hearts pumping.

A lot of early birds went straight for the runs groomed last night, which weren’t too shabby with 7″ of fresh fluff on top.

First tracks on Alpine are prized on a day like this…

As you can tell from the lines of tracks!

Many others headed straight for the Blue Bird lift line…which was even deeper and more divine.

It was hard to go wrong this morning, and while I won’t tell you where I lay my first tracks on a day like this (a girl has her secrets, you know), I will show you some of the epic sweet sugary goodness that made me and my pals giggle with delight.

Honestly, though, you really couldn’t go wrong anywhere on the mountain this morning, even if you weren’t here for first chair.

As these powder grins show, there was plenty to go around. The best part? We could do it all again tomorrow if tonight’s forecast turns out to be true.

With fresh snow 24 out of the first 27 days of this month, 78 inches so far, and powder days like today, March 2011 isn’t over, but it’s already a month to remember.
