Beat the Chill on the Hill...
Our holiday visitors have probably noticed how bitterly cold it’s been the last couple mornings down in Long Valley and Meadows Valley. It might surprise you to learn that it’s a lot warmer (relatively speaking) up here on the mountain! We have been experiencing a mild inversion, which means temperatures are actually a bit higher up here at a higher elevation.
This morning, as I drove up from McCall (before sunrise), the dashboard temperature gauge in my car was at -1 all the way up Highway 55. As I turned up Goose Lake Road and headed uphill toward Brundage, it evened out at zero, then slowly starting to tick up, 1…2…3…4… By the time I was all the way up our four-mile road, it was all the way up to 19 degrees – and that’s before the sun even came up.
This pattern is expected to continue for the next few days:
So don’t be discouraged if you wake up in town and it’s cold and foggy – chances are you can ‘rise above it’ up here at Brundage Mountain!!!
You can see Meadows Valley under a blanket of fog this morning while it’s bright and sunny up here.
A beautiful day to cruise the slopes and enjoy the spectacular view!
