The Calm After the Storm...

11/23/09

112309While this is a beautiful photo of Payette Lake, it’s not exactly what we had hoped to see today! We got 8″ of fresh snowfall this weekend, which is NOT going to be enough for us to open in time for Thanksgiving. (The forecast for the next few days also points to a sunny/cloudy holiday, without much fresh snow). For now, we’re hoping that temperatures stay cool so that we don’t lose much of what’s already on the mountain. As for our status, we are all set up and ready to go as far as facilities and employees, we simply need more snow to open.

Here are a couple more shots from this weekend. Some show our instructor training session, others show just how pretty it is with a little snowfall on the ground. We wish you and your family a wonder Thanksgiving holiday – hopefully, we will see you all soon!

– April

112309.1Instructors train on the flats of Easy Street – you can see the upper slopes need more coverage.

112309.2(Someone found a few fresh lines down low where there are no rocks).

112309.3Love to see those smiling instructor candidates!

112309.5Most of us would trade a beautiful sunset for a blizzard right now, but a beautiful sight like this makes the disappointment a little easier to bear.
