Far From Over!

04/04/12

A string of warm sunny days can really play tricks on you. Or maybe it’s the quick change back to COLD snowy weather. BRRRR!

After a few mild, racoon-tan days, a cold front moved in and dumped four inches of fresh, FLUFFY powder on us today.

Temperatures fell throughout the day instead of rising, and should remain in the teens overnight. That’s good news, because there are still lots of untracked lines on the mountain. Why?

While the slope conditions kept getting better, the WEATHER conditions were pretty tough to handle all day long.

Blustery winds on the upper mountain teamed up with low visibility so our faces were getting sand-blasted by fresh snow while we squinted to search for our next line. That kept a lot of people from exploring and hitting their favorite lines (which means they’ll still be out there tomorrow).

Some hearty folks took shelter in the trees, while others (like me), headed for lower ground. I found some incredible powder turns on the Bear Chair runs, which is a bit unusual for this time of year. But thanks to the plunging temperatures, the snow was soft, fluffy and FRESH from top to bottom.

Today’s conditions (and this week’s forecast) are a reminder that our season is far from over.

We are operating daily through this Sunday, April 8, and we have TONS of exciting things happening in those four short days. We are offering FREE lift tickets tomorrow and Friday, followed by the MSRT Brundage Mountain Marathon on Saturday.

This Sunday, we host our annual Easter Egg Hunt at 11 am. Sunday is also a “Second Sunday” Season Pass Holder appreciation day, so Brundage season pass holders are invited to bring a friend for FREE. (Bogus Basin Season Pass Holders get $25 lift tickets on Sunday.)

But the season doesn’t end there. We plan to be open for at least two Bonus Weekends, April 14-15 and April 21-22, conditions permitting. So even though today is our last Wednesday of the season, winter is far from over here at Brundage Mountain.
