Uniquely Brundage
New snow falling from the sky and the snow softening under my feet made me slow down and think of just how to best describe these snow conditions.
Over the years, the snow reporting team at Brundage Mountain has coined original terms to describe a wide range of snow conditions. You have probably heard them on the snow phone or read them on our blog. The terms, unique to Brundage, include Carvalicious, Groomerific and Powduroy. Today was definitely carvalicious and groomerific. The surface of our groomed runs nearly reached powduroy status.
We have taken the liberty and published these definitions on urbandictionary.com for all to enjoy. I’ve also written them out below for those not familiar.
Carvalicious: Adjective; ideal soft snow conditions allowing for maximum carve and enjoyment on groomed runs. Term coined by Brundage Mountain Ski Area, circa 2006. “That groomed run was Carvalicious!”
Groomerific: Adjective; When the snow off trail does not meet the exceptional quality of the snow on the groomed ski runs. Term coined by Brundage Mountain Ski Area, cira 2006. “The day at Brundage was groomerific.”
Powduroy: Any time three or more inches of snow falls on an already groomed ski run. This results in powder corduroy. Term coined by Brundage Mountain Ski Area, circa 2006. “I love skiing powduroy.”
It would be selfish to take all of the credit for creating these ski terms, we had some help from our loyal skiers and boarders who also express their love for the conditions. So fans of Brundage Mountain, thank you for your support – you are also part of what makes Brundage Mountain a true original.
If you have any of your own descriptive terms for the slopes we would love to hear them and add them to the list.
KEEP THE FUN ALIVE!!
