Snow!!!

10/06/11

Apparently, yesterday’s dusting of snow on the summit was just a sign of things to come.

This morning, we awoke to FOUR inches of fresh, fluffy snow in the base area.

I snapped some photos at mid-mountain just after the sun came up. Snow continues to fall this morning, and it looks like this little preview of winter could last another 24 hours.

Check out the snow falling at the Bear’s Den. There’s a little over 4″ right there at mid-mountain.

It’s piling up nicely on the trees and on the brush.

I only made it to mid-mountain, but you can see the scene looks about the same as you look up Alpine toward the summit.

Looks like Winter, huh?

A few more signs of Autumn’s foothold revealed themselves as I headed back toward the base area.

The aspen leaves are just beginning to change color beneath their powdery camouflage.

And our resident wildlife population doesn’t seem ready to vacate their seasonal digs.

However, now that we have a blanket of snow spread across the entire mountain, it feels like Fall may soon fall behind.
