Brundage Mountain Welcomes More Than 1,000 Student-Athletes for NICA Brundage Blastoff

08/19/26

Brundage Mountain Resort is proud to welcome the Brundage Blastoff, the first race of the Idaho Interscholastic Cycling League season, to the mountain this weekend. More than 1,000 student-athletes are expected to compete, bringing racers, coaches, families and fans from across the Northwest to Brundage Mountain Bike Park.

With more than 1,000 racers taking to the trails, the event will impact some normal summer operations on Saturday, August 22. Here’s what guests should know before heading to the mountain.

Saturday Bike Park Operations

The Brundage Mountain Bike Park will be closed to the public on Saturday, August 22, with the exception of designated routes used to access the Brundage Bike Shuttle.

There will be no public access to front-side mountain bike trails, and riders will not be able to bike from the summit back to the Brundage base area.

Guests looking to get out for a ride can still take advantage of two shuttle-served routes:

Goose Creek Trail
Riders can access the Goose Creek Trail via Upper Hidden Valley → Grouse → Goose Creek Trail.

Brundage to Bear Basin (B2BB)
Riders must follow Rock Garden → Lakeview Vista → Brundage to Bear Basin Trail.

Bike Shuttle reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

BIKE SHUTTLE

The Brundage Mountain Bike Park will operate normally on Friday, August 21 and Sunday, August 23.

Scenic Chairlift Rides Are Open

Not racing? You can still head to the summit and take in the views or spectate the race from the air!

The Bluebird Express will be open for scenic chairlift rides from 10am – 4:30pm throughout the weekend, including Saturday. Scenic Chairlift Ride tickets are 50% off when purchased online.

BUY NOW

Due to the race, guests riding the chairlift on Saturday will need to ride the Bluebird Express back down to the base area. Hiking from the summit back to the base will not be available.

Come Cheer on the Racers!

Even if you’re not competing, race weekend is a great opportunity to see the next generation of mountain bikers in action. With more than 1,000 student-athletes expected to take on the Brundage trails, the mountain will be buzzing with racers, families and fans throughout the weekend.
