Powder Alert! Brundage Mountain Scores 14 Inches of Fresh Snow Ahead of the Three-Day Weekend

02/16/24

14 inches of fresh snow will greet skiers and riders headed to Brundage Mountain Resort for the three-day Presidents Weekend after a two-day storm refreshed the mountain from top to bottom.

“This last blast of snow came in while temperatures were in the teens and low twenties,” says resort spokesperson, April Whitney. “This is the soft, fluffy type of powder Brundage is known for and the timing of the storm simply could not be better with the long weekend ahead.”

Brundage Mountain’s snow depths now measure 43 inches at the 6,000 foot base elevation and 66 inches at the 7,640 foot summit. Partly sunny skies are expected Saturday, with a three-to-five-inch refresher storm forecast overnight Saturday and into Sunday.

“Powder hounds have been exceptionally patient this season,” says Whitney. “These are the best snow conditions we’ve had all season and we’re excited for skiers and riders to experience the new Centennial Express and enjoy the easier access that high-speed lift provides to the south side of the mountain.”

SAVE MONEY AND TIME WITH ONLINE TICKET PURCHASES

Brundage Mountain wants to remind guests that they can save $20 on all-mountain tickets by purchasing online instead of at the window. Online purchases can also help keep holiday lines short.

10 BARREL BEER CAT ON THE PROWL

Weekend guests will have the chance to grab refreshments in a convenient spot, as the 10 Barrel “Beer Cat” sets up at the bottom of the Centennial Express on Saturday and Sunday. The Beercat is the world’s coolest mobile snow pub. Grab a beach chair and a brew and relax between runs!

GROM GAMES ARE SATURDAY

Boardroom Boise LogoOur friends at the Board Room are back to host the Grom Games Saturday at noon! This low-key comp is for skiers and snowboarders 13 and under – all levels and abilities are welcome to throw down their best tricks on the Roller Coaster terrain park on Easy Street. Registration (free) is from 9 am to 11 am and the games start right at noon.

BACKCOUNTRY SNOWCAT TOURS HAVE SPACE AVAILABLE

This week’s fresh powder has boosted interest in the resort’s backcountry Snowcat Adventures, but powder skiers and snowboarders still have a chance to try this top-ranked backcountry experience.

There is still some availability for private cat trips this weekend and single seat availability in early March. Brundage Mountain’s snowcat adventures operate on 18,000 acres of pristine terrain in the Payette National Forest backcountry. The snowy steeps, tree-lined glades and powdery bowls span three separate peaks topping out at elevations of 8,500 feet.

In operation since the early 1990’s, the program was recently recognized by Men’s Journal as one of the Top 7 Best Snowcat Skiing Operators in the U.S.. A new on-line booking system allows powder chasers to check trip availability in real time at  www.brundage.com/snowcat.

“A backcountry trip delivers everything you love about a resort powder day, and so much more.” says Whitney. “The anticipation, the thrills, the camaraderie, the feeling that you never want it to end. The bonus is that with such a huge expanse of remote terrain, every run feels like the first run of the day.”
