Idaho Ski Roadtrippers Find Family-Friendly Fun on the Best Snow in Idaho

03/07/22

At Brundage Mountain, we love to talk about the Best Snow in Idaho and the uncrowded, family-friendly vibe on the mountain. But you don’t need to take our word for it. Adventure Mom Robyn Robledo and her family recently visited Brundage for the first time as part of an Idaho Ski Roadtrip.

She was blown away by the beauty of Idaho, and the friendliness of our people, and the great terrain and snow at Brundage Mountain. Here’s more of what she had to say about her visit:

Idaho is one of our favorite states because it’s not crowded, Idahoans are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, and there is so much raw nature to explore. In this blog we’re sharing why we love skiing in Idaho and why you too will want to add this Idaho ski road trip itinerary to your bucket list.

If you are looking to experience one of the most gorgeous, freedom loving state in the USA, you’ll definitely want to take a road trip through Idaho. Idaho really is an adventure lovers paradise. Whether you visit Idaho for a winter ski trip or a summer adventure, you’ve got to experience Idaho because there’s a whole lot more here than just potatoes!

Ski Brundage Resort & Experience the Best Snow in Idaho

Just 45 minutes north of Tamarack Resort, 10 minutes past McCall, and dead center of Idaho lies Brundage Resort.

With 6 lifts and 70 trails, Brundage Mountain is similar to Tamarack Resort but the thing that I loved most about it was that the snow was some of the best I’ve ever skied, there were more beginner runs, and I loved the solitude I felt on the mountain.

I like being immersed in nature and every time I stood at the summit of Brundage, I was overwhelmed with gratitude for being surrounded with 360 degrees of snowy peaks.

For me, I liked skiing Brundage the most on this Idaho ski road trip mainly because Tatiana, my youngest, and I are beginner to intermediate skier and we felt like we had quite a few options for runs.

In fact, if you watch our YouTube video you’ll see that Tatiana fell in love with skiing after our last visit to Brundage. She had been a little hesitant to ski but the run “Bear” was the perfect amount of challenge for her to build her confidence up to start enjoying the sport.

Jiraiya, my more advanced skier, liked Brundage and said it was because he enjoyed that there were so many advanced blues and black diamonds to choose from.

Gabi and Isabelle both snowboard and agreed that while the views are incredible and the options for runs made it so that they never got bored. On thing they did note is that are quite a few catwalk sections that were hard to avoid while snowboarding.

Brundage is only 20 minutes from the town of McCall, which has a population of only 4,000, and beyond that, there isn’t much “civilization” for a hundred miles or more.

If you’ve never been to McCall, you should know now that you will fall in love with this quaint and scenic mountain town. It sits on Payette Lake and is a popular summer destination especially for boating. Year-round Brundage offers great lodging, amazing restaurants, an indoor ice rink, and camping at McCall RV Park, which is a great luxury campground with a hot tub, sauna, and workout room.

As far as amenities go, there isn’t much on the mountain except for the restaurant with a few options but that is about to change.

Brundage has begun a 10-year build out that includes ski-in/ski-out accommodations, a revitalized base village and an expansion of terrain with new lifts. With the best snow in all of Idaho, it will be exciting to get to visit Brundage and never have to leave the mountain side.

Full Day Lift Tickets at Brundage: Adults $80, Teens 13-17 $52, Kids 7-12 $34.

If you are a beginner looking to stick to the Bear area that Tatiana loved so much, the price is only $34 for adults and teens and $22 for youth. And if you are truly a beginner and just want practice on Easy Street it’s only $10 and the magic carpet is free.

Brundage and Tamarack are both part of the Indy Ski Pass which, for only $299, includes two days at both of these resorts.
