Today's Lesson: Winter is FUN!
Brundage Mountain is excited to host the Payette Children’s Forest Winter Adventure Weekend.
This kid-focused event is meant to expose children to all the amazing things the forest has to offer during the winter months. From snowplay to snow science, today’s young visitors found a lot of different ways to enjoy the outdoor winter environment.
We want to thank the Forest Service and U of I’s McCall Outdoor Science School (MOSS) for teaming up with us to make this family-friendly event such a good time.
The MOSS crew and Forest Service taught the kids about everything from snow tunnels and snow crystals…
To the winter wildlife they might expect to see in our area.
The kids also got the chance to create some nature-inspired artwork.
It’s all part of a special program in our area called the Payette Children’s Forest, which is focused on promoting youth outdoor education and recreation programs in the Adams, Valley and Washington county areas of Idaho. PCF events and activities engage youth in adventure, stewardship and education. Learn more here.
Today’s event also included a snowshoe excursion/tour and an affordable Learn to Ski opportunity for kids aged 8 & up.
While the educational pieces are all important, the most memorable lesson of all was this:
Whether you’re making some furry new friends…
Cooking up a sweet treat over the campfire…
Or just sliding down a big pile of snow…
WINTER IS FUN!
See you next year –
