Slice of Heaven
Three inches of fresh snow appeared overnight, just waiting to greet our holiday visitors when lifts opened this morning.
The forecasters originally thought it would snow all day, but the timing of the storm turned out to be perfect; snow showers eased off just as the lifts turned on.
That meant the perfect combination of fresh snow on the slopes and spectacular views overhead.
Those who were up bright and early and ready for first chair naturally got the best of the freshies.
Runs groomed last night were nothing less than HEAVENLY, with three inches of fluff over a smooth, forgiving slope.
Snow continued to fall through the morning hours, so even slopes groomed this morning got a special dusting on top. It was a little like that splash of powdered sugar on top of a sweet, sinfully delicious pastry.
Untracked slopes were as forgiving as a feather bed first thing this morning.
As time went on, more tracks were laid…
And fresh lines became a rarity.
But the groomed runs that started out so smooth and velvety…
Held up nicely under the traffic.
Overhead, the little crack of blue sky continued to grow all day long.
At first, there was just a hint of the mountains in the distance.
But by midday, the skies were opening up and drenching the mountain with a generous helping of sunshine.
One last stroke of magical timing for our little slice of heaven.
