Tuesday fun in the sun!
Good morning, and welcome to your Tuesday morning report from Brundage. It’s time for some fun in the sun in the form of downhill shredding. If alpine vistas and casual lodge lounging are more your pace, it’s a great day for that too. One thing is for sure, it’s going to be another beautiful day at Brundage, unencumbered by clouds or crowds. See you up here!
You don’t have to be the son of a famous weatherman (I’m not either, but sometimes people think I am) to know that the west has had an extended stay from an overstaying visitor lately … high pressure. We’ve had an incredible run of gorgeous clear weather, which has also meant a lack of precipitation. We’re *fingers crossed* kicking that high pressure guest to the curb sooner rather than later. Cousin Eddie (forgive the post Christmas National Lampoon’s reference) should soon be packing up that Winnebago and hittin’ the ol’ dusty trail as we see low pressure and a more prolific forecast on the horizon moving into the weekend. We’re forecasted for temps to warm up a little bit before that happens, but not to full-on “Juneuary” levels.
Surface conditions have been dreamy for laying down carves. Just like cousin Eddie, there are some lovably redeeming qualities of the high pressure visitor we’ve had. We’ve enjoyed sunshine for days on end, leaving those beautiful Brundage views unobstructed. Cold temps and comprehensive daily grooming operations have been maintaining the snow and keeping that cord nice and fresh. Our grooming crew dials the parks too, and Bear, Jammer, and Easy Street terrain parks are creative and fun right now. So good, in fact, that we decided to hold a park competition recently. Now is a perfect time to get out there, hit some features, and hone your skills for the next one.
Fancy yourself the vertical feet stacking champion on your slope tracking iPhone app? We’ve got a day for you. Maybe you’re the park rat that loves high visibility for getting freestyle? Yeah, today will work for you too. Or maybe you’re the lodge princess (or prince) that loves a healthy dose of sunshine with an apres meal and a beverage? We have you covered too. Whether you’re all or none of the above, we have a stunner of a day on deck up here at Brundage, and one that everyone can enjoy!
Thanks for reading, and see you on the hill,
— AL Brundy
