When the Little Things ARE the Big Things

12/08/14

LodgeSnowMondayWe’ve spent a lot of time sharing photos and details on the BIG improvements we’ve made for the 2014/15 Winter Season, like our 3,200 square foot lodge addition, pictured on the right. We expect those major investments to make a noticeable difference during your next visit.

We’ve also been working on some less eye-catching improvements that you may want to check out before or during your next trip to Brundage Mountain.

One thing I’m particularly excited about is that for the first time, we are displaying automated base area temperatures on our website in addition to just the summit temperature. This new ‘widget’ is displayed on the home page, and the temperatures update in real time.

The widget below now displays on the Snow Report page.

We’ve also invested in some better tools to help you see our real-time snowfall:

We’ve replaced the camera lens on our popular base area snow stake to bring you a clearer picture of snowfall 24 hours a day.

BaseSnowBox

And, we have a brand new snowbox at mid-mountain. We’ve been experimenting with different locations over the past couple years because wind gusts have made consistent readings tricky. This season, we’re trying a wider box (similar to the one in the base area) and camera that we can move up and down to give a more direct shot. We’ve also added an old-school thermometer for those who are REALLY interested in knowing how temperatures are changing from top to bottom.

And, speaking of wind gusts…our anomometer (wind gauge) at the summit is fixed! In addition to average wind speeds, we are also displaying peak gusts as part of the hourly data we display on our website. There’s a link to that on our Snow Report page, OR,  you can bookmark this link to have it handy all season long: https://brundage.com/snow-report/historical-data/

Once you arrive, there are a lot of new improvements to enjoy. You’ve probably already heard about our new SnowCats, brush cutting and the Deadwood Shred Park. (If not, you can learn more here.)

For the little guys, (and big gals and guys who are learning to ski and ride for the first time) we’ve made some improvements to the load area on Easy Street.LoadBoard3

LoadBoard2

Our crews have rebuilt the load board with a straight, head on approach. This should make it easier for little shredders to make it to the load point. We’ve also moved the load point back to reduce bounciness, and lowered the load board to prevent the chair from contacting the back of your legs in an awkward place below the knees.

We’ve also established a new office in downtown McCall to offer more convenience for our visitors. The Brundage Adventure Center is located at 600. N. Third Street next to Alpine Village.

BAC

This is a great place to stop in and purchase lift tickets in the morning (or the afternoon for the following day). You can also buy season passes and select cards or arrange reservations for lessons and snowcat trips.

Starting this week, the Brundage Adventure Center will be open Wednesdays through Sundays.

Here’s a look at the hours:

Wednesday: 8:00 am – 2:00 pm

Thursday: 8:00 am – 2:00 pm

Friday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

Saturday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Sunday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

We plan to be open seven days a week during the winter holiday to serve you even better!

We know a lot of these changes won’t make headlines this year, but we also know that when it comes to making your next visit just a little bit brighter, the little things can make a big difference.

See you soon!

– April
