Join Us for our 'Pray for Snow' and Beer Release Party, Friday, November 28

11/14/14

ESB_275Our annual Pray for Snow party is returning to downtown McCall, as Brundage Mountain partners with the Salmon River Brewery for a one-of-a-kind event.

This year’s party will take place at Depot Park at 6:15 pm on Friday, November 28 (immediately following the downtown tree lighting ceremony). The event is open to all ages and admission is free.

Guests will be treated to live music from Boise-based band, Great Bait. Every adult in attendance will be entered into a huge winter prize drawing, with an additional ticket for each beer purchased. Grand prize is a Mid-Week Club Card from Brundage Mountain. Local shops are donating a wide selection of other great prizes.

The Pray for Snow Party will include the official release of a brand new collaboration with Salmon River Brewery, the Extra Special Brundage.

In the words of brewmaster Matt Ganz, “This beer is built upon the venerable English style, Extra Special Bitter, which is known for its thirst quenching and easy drinking appeal. It is copper-amber in color, with a noticeable toasty malt aroma. The flavor is balanced, starting out with a fruity, malt forward appeal that finishes with moderate, but not over the top, hop balance.”

The Extra Special Brundage is 5.5% abv. IBU 40. It will be featured on tap at SRB and in Smoky’s Bar & Grill this winter, but the timing of the official release party is designed to please the snow gods.

“Our opening date is completely dependent on what nature brings us,” said Brundage Mountain spokesperson, April Whitney, “In the past, we’ve seen a direct correlation between the festivity level at these events and the amount of snow that storms in afterward, so clearly, it’s time for snow lovers to come together, romp and stomp and pray for snow.”

Brundage Mountain needs at least 18 inches of snow in the base area to begin prepping and grooming the slopes. After that, it can open in a matter of days. The earliest opening day on record was November 11th, back in 1984. More recently, Brundage has opened weekend lift service as early as November 12th. (2005).
