Letter From the President

03/24/15

3inches3.24Dear Brundage Guests,

POW!  As in spring POWder alert.  Just when you may have started packing your skis away for the year, ULLR has come through with a spring storm that has left 10+” of snow at the Brundage Summit and 8″ at the base, and it’s still snowing with more in the forecast.  I hope to see all of you up here enjoying our spring powder and the bluebird days expected for the end of the week.

Our Crazy Days has been moved to our last scheduled day of operation, Saturday, March 28.  Come on up and take your final turns, soak up some sun, enjoy some great music, and get some Brundage love with your friends and family.

snowcam5inchesbase3.23As our 2014-15 season comes to a close, I want to send a big thank you to all you skiers and boarders who supported Brundage throughout the year.  It’s really painful to close before our scheduled closing date, but we’ve pushed, pulled, pulverized and prayed (the 4 P’s of snow management?) to keep the slopes white and it’s now time to call it quits for your safety and our sanity.

When I was thinking how best to describe this past snow year, I came upon two definitions for UNUSUAL; This first definition clearly fits; not habitually or commonly occurring, meaning I hope to never see a year like this again.  But I liked the second definition better; remarkable or interesting because different from or better than others.

This year was remarkable for Brundage as we are one of the few ski resorts left standing in the Pacific Northwest. We’ve been operating continuously since our opening day on December 19, 2014.

Bob Looper, President and Managing Director

In March alone, we received a tiny fraction of our average snowfall (and even that, not until the last 48 hours), endured both the polar express and the pineapple express, and 13 days of temperatures that reached above 50F on the mountain.  We have put our best foot forward and provided our skiers with the highest quality skiing the mountain could provide under “unusual” circumstances.  Our staff deserves some major kudos for keeping the shine on Brundage Mountain slopes and our new lodge expansion throughout the year.

I hope to see all of you back up here this summer to enjoy a scenic chairlift ride (now free if you are a 2015-16 season pass holder), tackle some of the mountain biking trails, and enjoy a Sunday Brunch on our new Smoky’s decks.

We have extended our lift-served mountain biking operations to include Thursdays through Sundays and matched that with the opening of Smoky’s restaurant so you can enjoy lunch and assorted thirst quenchers on our new deck and plaza facility.  My office is always open for a visit so stop on by and we can enjoy a cool one together!

– Bob
