Crazy Daze 2010 - All the Elements of a Great Time!

04/03/10

All the natural elements came together to make this year’s Crazy Daze celebration crazier than ever before! Snow…Air…Earth…Water. (Okay, so we substituted Snow for Fire, but with all this wintery weather, you’ll just have to bear with us here…)

We started the day with five inches of fresh, blower powder, so the skiers and riders were out in force hunting for fresh SNOW.

Then, it was time for the Big AIR contest, a new addition to our Crazy Daze line up.

The competitors went big, flew impossibly high, and displayed amazing grace under pressure.

Getting things down to EARTH was the goal during our first-ever Crazy Daze Pinata Party. The creative souls in the Kid’s Center have been working on these homemade pinatas all week, and today, with a few swings of the bat…

And then a few more….

The spoils of their labor hit the ground and the earth was ripe for the picking!

Some earthly animal instincts took over for the costume contest. Most of our food and beverage employees were dressed as bunnies…unfortunately…Elmer Fudd showed up (in the middle) to hunt “those wascally wabbits!”.

Santa Claus and one of his elves even made an out-of-season appearance…

And two-time defending costume contest champion Lucas Crawford came with a big idea again this year with the impersonation of a pile of dirty laundry.

His brother,  Kellen, showed his romantic side, dressing as the Gangster of Love.

But this year, it was Big Daddy David Crawford’s impersonation of the Centennial Mardi Gras Tree (also known affectionately as the Brundage Bra Tree) that took first prize in the costume contest!

Still, the main action happened at the notorious pond of shame. The sky broke open and showed some blue…

Just as the crowd of HUNDREDS braved the chill to watch the epic battle in the base area.

Old Man Winter finally showed up at Brundage (where were you in February, bro?)

Along with competitors of all kinds to test their mettle and tempt the fates on WATER.

Who knew superheroes rode snowboards? Hmmm….

Anyway. This photo shows the sharp focus it takes to beat the near-frozen pond.

Floatation devices are not a bad idea…and make for good company. (I think that alligator gave him a wedgy.)

But in the end, it’s not those who get a smooth ride who earn the most admiration. Rather, it’s those who put their all, their very hearts and souls into this thing we call Crazy Daze, who take on the ELEMENTS….

And get ABSOLUTELY WORKED OVER who get the wildest applause and create the best memories.

You can check out more Pond Skimming highlights at the LMP Photography website, where you can purchase high-resolution photos so you’ll never forget all the element that went in to today’s Crazy Daze fun!
