The Powder is Here, But Where are the People?
Three more inches of fresh, fluffy powder gave us ANOTHER awesome day here at Brundage Mountain. I know it’s April Fool’s Day, but I’m telling you, the snow conditions are NO JOKE and the slopes are practically empty!
I couldn’t get out on the snow until mid-afternoon, but there were still TONS of fresh lines out there.
This isn’t right off trail, but it’s not one of those spots you have to work to get to, either.
Here’s another open powder shot. Lots of room for fresh tracks, but no people…
We’ve had 14 inches of fresh powder this week, so it’s just getting deeper and deeper off-trail. We got a total of 52 inches of snow during the month of March and very few warm days, so the glades are packed and obstacles covered up, right down to the bottom of the base area. That means great tree skiing all over the mountain.
After several solitary runs, I finally ran into some local die-hards at one of the chairlifts. I invited them to take a run with me so that I could show you more than just empty slopes with my tracks on them.
I love having lots of lazy powder turns available in the afternoon, but I HATE the idea of good powder going to waste. There’s more snow in the forecast tonight and tomorrow, so please, get up here and make sure the powder doesn’t get lonely!
