SUNDAY...SUNDAY...SUNDAY...
SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY
It was “Battle Royale” times two at Brundage Mountain today, as two tough competitions took place on the mountain. The first was between two forces of nature: the clouds and the blue sky.
Clouds had a clear advantage before sunrise, but blue skies took a stand early in the morning, using the rising sun to push those clouds back out of the way.
The clouds answered back, tossing down some tiny snowflakes around the mountain.
This epic battle of natural forces was the perfect backdrop for our first-ever “Rookie Race”. It’s part of our Second Sunday program for Season Pass Holders.
First came the race clinic. 18 fierce first-timers showed up to learn the basics of running race gates.
Coach Tim Collins put them through the paces (gently) and they were ready to rumble.
Another seven racers showed up in time for the starting gun.
This guy obviously missed the clinic, looks like he could have used some instruction!!! Click on any photo below for race highlights, as we return to our other smackdown below…
There was a strange standoff for a while, it was clear in the base area as you can see from this race photo – and gorgeous at the summit,
but a strange halo of clouds would not give up the line around the middle of the mountain.
In the end, it was a toss up.
The clouds refused to surrender, but the blue sky was definitely the crowd favorite.
Just look at the view, the sunset, and the loyal fans who followed the entire battle – on the edge of their seats.
