Snowy Surprise

02/11/12

If you following our forecast closely, you’ll know that a 20-30% chance of snow isn’t normally much to get excited about.

That’s why we were thrilled to wake up this morning and see big, fluffy flakes floating from the sky, AND the ‘chance of snow’ statistic suddenly bumped up to 80%.

Today’s storm is still a no-show in our base area snow box, but in the real world, we’ve accumulated 1/2 inch to an inch on the slopes and light snow continues to fall this afternoon.

Even a few flurries can soften things up considerably.

The groomed runs were forgiving and easy to carve right from the start today, which was fortunate because some patchy fog has been chasing us around the mountain.

Today’s surprise storm was a reminder that even a little bit of fresh snow can make a big difference. And even when the forecast looks especially vague, a surprise storm can show up and deliver fresh snow out of nowhere.
