Okay 2012. Let's Do This.

Okay 2012. Let's Do This.

01/01/12

The end of 2011 has been touch-and-go here at Brundage Mountain.

We are THRILLED that we finally got enough snow to open. But as the calendar page turns, I, for one, am ready to move on.

2012 already appears to be bringing us blessings. Slope conditions were terrific today. We were able to groom two more of our major runs. We expect to be able to groom Main Street for the first time tonight. And now, we bring you the exciting news that we will be opening Lakeview for powder skiing tomorrow.

Let’s start at the top. Our mountain crews were able to groom Alpine last night, and it was a true pleasure to ski it today.

Our edges sank right in to the carvalicious snow surface, from North to Temptation and on every groomed run in between.

We also opened Sensation today.

It’s not our longest run, but it was a real treat to ski. It’s definitely the best groomed run I’ve skied so far this season, with a soft, silky surface that totally caught be by surprise (the pleasant kind.)

It’s hard NOT to smile about this kind of “Sensation” after we’ve waited so long to get our season started.

Check out the corduroy on the upper mountain. Divine!

But you don’t have to take my word for it.

Keri Ann and Ryan Rogers have skied 8 days already this season, making multiple road trips to Utah and California starting back in late November. They told us that today’s conditions were, without question, the best they’ve seen this season anywhere they’ve been.

So after a disappointing December (remember, that was 2011) we’re looking forward to a cool change. (Snowy AND cool would be even nicer).

And on this first day of 2012, we’re feeling pretty sunny about the possibilities.

Happy New Year!

– April
