Holiday User's Guide to Brundage Mountain

12/16/10

The slopes are in great shape and Brundage Mountain is ready to welcome our holiday visitors!

Many of you have your own tricks and tips to make the most of your Brundage Mountain Vacation.

Here are OUR Top Five Tips to Avoid Lines and Maximize Good Times…followed by our Top Three  Tips to Save Money and Avoid Hassles.

Please feel free to add your own tips in the comment section below!

Top 5 Tips to Avoid Lines and Maximize Good Times

1.      VISIT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
Brundage Mountain’s holiday crowds traditionally show up right AFTER Christmas. So if you can spare a few days the week BEFORE the holiday, you can enjoy all of the services and great snow Brundage has to offer, without the big lines.

2.      EAT OUT
Outside our main cafeteria, that is. The main lodge in the base area is a hub for countless services, so the main cafeteria can get crowded. If all you need is a tasty meal or something to drink, consider stopping at one of our two on-mountain Food and Beverage outlets. The Bear’s Den is located mid-mountain at the top of the Bear Chair and offers a delicious build-your-own fresh burrito bar, in addition to more traditional lunch fare. The Bird’s Nest at the top of the Blue Bird quad serves hot dogs and nachos, beer and spirits, as well as tasty pulled pork and chipotle chicken sandwiches. Here are more details on our Dining Options.

3.      SLOPESIDE PIT STOPS
(No, we’re not suggesting you relieve yourself in the trees!) Brundage Mountain has installed two new “log cabin” vault toilets, bringing the total number of these ski-in/ski-out restrooms to four! You’ll find them at the bottom of Easy Street, the base of the Bear Chair/Centennial lifts and in two locations near the base of the Blue Bird quad. These spiffy new biffies are sturdier and more comfortable than traditional porta-potties, and their larger capacity makes them much more pleasant to visit.

4.      EASY ACCESS FOR SEASON PASS HOLDERS
It’s not just a great way to save, but being a Season Pass Holder is also a great way to build flexibility into your visits. Pass Holders ‘in the know’ often park in the lower parking lot, then begin their day by loading the Centennial Lift or Bear Chair…without getting anywhere near the lines at the lodge. All of our chairlifts are scheduled to be open EVERY DAY December 17 through January 2, so this is a great way to save time.

5.      PLAN AHEAD
To cut time in lines and make sure you get the services you need, we do recommend making reservations for Private Ski & Snowboard Lessons , Brundage Bears Lessons and Daycare. Adult Group lessons do not require a reservation and are offered every day December 18-January 2. And, while there’s room for everyone to watch and enjoy the festivities during our “Light Up the Night” party December 29th, if you’d like to participate in the Torchlight Parade or join us for the hearty Pasta Dinner, you’ll want to make sure we’re saving you a spot. Just click on any of the links on this page for more information.

Top 3 Tips to Save Money and Avoid Hassles

1.      SAVE ON TICKETS WITH A SELECT CARD
If you don’t visit often enough to buy a Season Pass but you’re still looking to save on lift tickets, you’ll want to be sure to check out our Select Cards. These multi-day cards have no blackout dates, even over busy holiday periods! You can save up to $55 or choose the option that best fits your vacation plans. They do NOT need to be used on consecutive days. 3-Day, 4-Day and 5-Day cards can be purchased at Guest Services. You’ll find all those products PLUS 2-Day Select Cards at our partner retailers in Boise & Lewiston.

2.      STASH YOUR STUFF…SAFELY.
Nothing feels worse than leaving your gear out and having a Grinch take it away, so we have two options to help you keep your stuff safe. You can stash bags, coolers, skis and snowboards for a few bucks a pop at “Bag Check” in the main lodge. If you plan to be here a few days in a row, we recommend renting a locker. Just head to Guest services, where you can arrange your daily rental or pre-pay for several days in a row. It’s just $5 a day. These lockers are spacious enough for skis AND gear, and they’re located right outside the main lodge. That means you control the key and never need to stand in line to re-claim your gear.

3.      KNOW WHERE TO GO
No one wants to stand in a line just to find out they’re in the wrong spot, so here are a few tips to help you navigate:
Sack lunches are allowed only on the third floor of the lodge and outside decks on the lodge. You can always leave the bag at home and enjoy one of our daily specials at special family-friendly prices.
Need Rentals? Be sure to purchase your rental packages at the main ticket window first, and then head to the rental shop for fittings. That means less time in line and more time out having fun on our brand new fleet of performance rental gear!
Need a tuneup? The technicians at Fall Line Tunes would be happy to work on your road-tested gear or prep you’re the brand new skis or board you got for Christmas. Fall Line Tunes is tucked between the Rental Shop and Guest Services on the first floor of the lodge.
Forget something? No worries. Our retail shop is located just inside the main cafeteria on the third floor of the lodge. We’ve got a wide selection of goggles, gloves, hats and even fleece jackets to add to your holiday style or replace what you forgot at home.
