Brundage to Open Summer Season With FREE Lift Rides on Friday, June 29

06/22/12

We invite you to join us Friday, June 29 as we host a special celebration to kick off the summer chairlift season.

The Grand Opening Celebration takes place Friday, June 29 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Visitors can stop by the base area Bike Shop to get their free lift tickets for a ride up the Blue Bird High Speed Quad to our 7,640 foot summit.

Those riding on foot can get off the chairlift and enjoy 360 degree views which include the Payette Lakes, Salmon River Mountains, Seven Devil’s and even Oregon’s Wallowa Mountains.

This year, ALL downhill mountain biking trails will be open in time for the Grand Opening. Brundage Mountain has more than 20 miles of hand-built single track trails, ranging from intermediate to expert difficulty. Visitors who bring their own bikes can ride the chairlift with their bikes for free. Freestyle and downhill mountain bikes will be available for rent on Opening Day on a first-come, first-served basis. This year’s rental fleet includes brand new Giant Reign SX and Giant Faith Freeride bikes.

“There may be a few small patches of snow on the upper North-facing slopes,” said resort spokesperson, April Russell. “But not on our main trails and not enough snow to keep anyone from enjoying their free day of riding or the extended Fourth of July holiday period.”

Last year, an unusually deep Spring snowpack kept mountain bike trails closed until mid-July.

This season, mountain bikers can also experience head-to-head riding on Brundage’s new four-cross course. The course was constructed last spring. It’s now in prime condition after naturally compacting during the off-season.

More information on the new course and new bikes is available here.

The Grand Opening Celebration will also feature an outdoor barbecue starting at noon. Food and beverages will be available for purchase in the base area. Several local sports shops will also be on hand displaying their latest products and special summer offerings.

Brundage Mountain is adding Bonus Days to their regular operating hours for the Fourth of July holiday.

Regular summer lift hours are Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, with Bonus Days Wednesday, July 4, and Thursday, July 5. (Brundage lift service will not operate on Monday, July 2 or Tuesday, July 3.)

More information on our regular mountain biking and scenic chairlift ride pricing is available here.
