Brundage Extends Record Ski Season

Brundage Mountain to FINALLY End Season Saturday

Final Day to be a Tribute to Moms

McCall, ID – Brundage Mountain resort will celebrate its latest closing day ever this Saturday, May 10th. Abundant and consistent snowfall has allowed the ski area to extend its operations four weekends longer than originally scheduled.

“We normally shut down after the second Sunday in April,” said resort spokesperson April Russell. “But our slope coverage is so amazing and snow quality so good, we couldn’t resist staying open as many extra weekends as possible.”

Saturday’s forecast calls for sunshine and a high temperature near 50 degrees.

“Slope coverage looks terrific, there’s still plenty of snow, even between the trees,” added Russell. “And we’re expecting really nice sugar snow on the groomers with soft corn snow developing off-trail.”

The resort still has a 60 inch snow base at the lodge with over 100 inches on the summit.

MOMS & KIDS SKI FREE ON CLOSING DAY

The resort will celebrate closing day with an early Mother’s Day treat. Free lift tickets will be offered Saturday, May 10th for all Moms and kids 17 & under.

A regular adult full-day lift ticket for closing day will cost $35. Bogus Basin pass holders qualify for a $25 full-day ticket by showing their pass at the Brundage ticket window. Day care and Ski School programs will be offered.

Season to end just short of all-time Snowfall Record

Brundage Mountain is just two inches away from hitting the all-time record for cumulative season snowfall, but the forecast indicates the season will likely close before any additional snowfall is recorded.

The official record was set in the winter of 1998/1999, when 430 inches of snow fell on Brundage Mountain. In 2005/2006, the total reached 420 inches. This year, Brundage Mountain has recorded 428 inches of season snowfall

”We may not break the record for season snowfall,” said Russell. “But a lot of people could sure argue that this was still the best season ever.”
