Five Things to Do at Brundage Mountain Resort This Summer

05/15/15

Header_Mountain BikingThis guest post is brought to you by Expedia Viewfinder, which is partnering with Brundage Mountain Resort to showcase the top things to do at the mountainside this summer.

Brundage Mountain Resort in Idaho is popular for its snow-packed adventures, but that doesn’t mean its allure melts away with the powder in the warmer months. When summer rolls in, the mountain comes to life with outdoor activities. At Expedia Viewfinder, we love learning about a destination’s alter ego, so we teamed up with Brundage Mountain to find out about the resort’s summer attractions. With activities and scenic views, Brundage gives us something to look forward to as the temperature heats up.

Bike the Mountain Trails
At Brundage Mountain, winter slopes transform into mountain biking trails each summer. Adrenaline junkies ride the chairlifts up the 7,640-foot summit and charge down the trails on two wheels. Those in search of a gentle ride flock to the Elk Trail, which winds through meadows and forests on a gradual decline to the base. Meanwhile, adventure seekers get their fix on Zorro, a technical trail that serves up a serious rush of excitement. With more than 20 miles of trails, mountain bikers of all skill levels will find their perfect route.

Ride the Bluebird Express
Visitors don’t have to take on high-speed adventure to witness the world-class views from the top of Brundage Mountain. The Bluebird Express, a chairlift for summer visitors, offers an opportunity to revel in the rustic scenery. Those who disembark at the top can spot the Blue Mountains over the state border in Oregon, the rippling waters of Payette Lake, and even the nearby Hells Canyon Wilderness. The chairlift summer schedule runs from June 26 to September 7.

Play Disc Golf on The Easy Street 9
Frisbee fanatics will go crazy for The Easy Street 9, a new disc golf course set up on Brundage Mountain. Visitors eager to get active, explore the scenery at the base of the mountain, and show off their hand-eye coordination will appreciate this course, which is over 3,000 feet long. The game goes to par 30, but even those who forget to keep score will have a blast. Using the disc golf course is free, and visitors can bring along discs from home or rent some on site.

Feast at Smoky’s Bar and Grill
After a summer’s day on the mountain, refuel at Smoky’s Bar and Grill, which is located right in the main lodge at Brundage Mountain. Open Thursdays to Sundays, this joint is the perfect place to cool off with a drink after a downhill bike ride, fill up with a tasty sandwich after a round of disc golf, or indulge in Sunday brunch while taking in the spellbinding mountain views. Some of the tastiest menu items include the smoked trout club and the mile-high nachos.

Kick Back with Some Music on the Mountain
Those visiting on July 21 are in for a treat. Brundage Resort is hosting Music on the Mountain: Brass Quintet and Dinner on the Green. This events features a lavish buffet dinner, cash bar, and live classical music with a mountain backdrop. The quintet will serenade the valley with the brassy sounds of a French horn, trombone, tuba, and two trumpets. Tickets are on sale now.

Later in the season, the McCall Jazz Festival is making some noise at the resort on September 12th. Hosted by Curtis Stigers, this music event will feature performances by jazz luminaries from 3-7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now, and proceeds go toward Shepherd’s Home & Interfaith Sanctuary.

From mountain bike trails to disc golf courses, Brundage belongs not only on your winter itinerary but your summer one, too. Visit during this warm season and experience a different side of this mountain resort.
