Edge of Totality – Eclipse Viewing Party

  •  August 21, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 2:00 pm

We are sold out of the $20 packages.  But you can still join us on the summit.  Regular priced single ride lift tickets will be on sale in the retail shop.

Do you want to experience the Great American Solar Eclipse without fighting the throng of people surging toward totality?

We’ve got a great option for you. While the Brundage Mountain summit is a few miles outside the totality area, it offers a unique (and less-crowded) view of this once-in-a-lifetime event.

If the weather on eclipse day is good, mountaintop locations such as the top of Brundage Mountain will offer a unique and memorable perspective on this amazing event. Brundage Mountain is not in the totality zone, but it is in the 99% maximum eclipse zone. At its peak, 99.6% of the sun will be covered by the moon at our location.

The moon begins to cross in front of the sun at 10:11 am. The eclipse will peak here between 11:27 and 11:28 am. The moon and sun will separate completely at 12:49 pm.

The Brundage Experience The Schedule

Our $20 package includes a scenic chairlift ride, eclipse viewing glasses, a commemorative poster, free tent camping on Easy Street the night of Sunday, August 20 and priority loading on the Blue Bird Quad.

Our pre-purchase period ended at noon on Sunday, but we will have a few dozen ‘packages’ available for purchase on-site, on a first-come, first-served basis.

BlueBird Quad Chairlift runs from 8:30 am – 2:00 pm

We strongly suggest that you arrive as close to 8:30 am as possible in order to make sure you’re on the summit in time for the eclipse. The last rides down from the top are at 2:00 pm sharp. There is no seating on the summit, so if you’d like to relax a bit, we recommend bringing a camp chair to take up with you.

Ticket office/Fall Line Shop opens 8:00 am – 2:00 pm

Lunch and After Party in Smoky’s Bar & Grill starts at 12:30.  We invite all our party goers to lunch and an afternoon of Space Trivia at 1:30 pm.  Get your teams together to test your knowledge of the universe with a robust game of trivia hosted by Michael Hayes of McCall Trivia.

Please note: Brundage Season Pass holders can use their free scenic chairlift ride perk the day of the eclipse, but priority loading will ONLY be given to those who purchase the $20 package. Scenic chairlift rides will also be available for individual purchase, but those ticket holders will not be eligible for priority loading. No discount coupons will be accepted on August 21.

What is priority loading? We will have two lines at the BlueBird Quad the day of the eclipse. Those who purchased the $20 eclipse package will be allowed to load the next available chair. Those without priority loading status will have to wait for all priority loaders to board the chair before boarding. If you don’t want to chance missing the summit view, we highly recommend the $20 Eclipse Package (plus, you’ll get eclipse glasses, a commemorative poster, and FREE camping on Easy Street the night before).

Good news! There will be no road construction on Highway 55 or Goose Lake Road on Monday, August 21. Goose Lake Road is a construction zone so please plan to drive carefully on your way up. There will be no mountain biking allowed at Brundage the day of the eclipse.

Please help us help you: If you are in a wheelchair or will need special help loading the lift, please e-mail us at [email protected]. We would love to chat with you ahead of the big event to make sure we can help you navigate our natural terrain and know what to expect from the loading and unloading process.

Camping rules:

NO FIRES. No Open Flames. No smoking. The Payette National Forest is under Stage 1 fire restrictions. Learn more.

Please practice ‘bear-smart camping‘ during your stay to avoid attracting wildlife to the campground.

We strongly advise you leave your pets at home if you are camping overnight. We have a pet area where pets on leashes are allowed but pets are not allowed on the grass (which is where the campsites are located).
