Competition: Fierce, Friendly and FREE (style)
com·pe·ti·tion
[kom-pi-tish-uhn] noun.
Competitors of all types will be on the mountain this weekend, contesting for some sort of supremacy, or in some cases, just for fun!
We’ve got three different events happening this weekend on the front side, and whether you’d like to participate or spectate (or even, evacuate), here is some info to help you enjoy, or avoid, the weekend’s events.
#1 – FIERCE Competition
The big event runs today (Friday) through Sunday on Alpine and Sidewinder. The McCall Ski Racing Team is hosting a Women’s Super G event for the Intermountain division. As you can see in the photo above, these kids are FAST! That’s why those two runs, Sidewinder and Alpine will be closed to the public.
Nearby, Beeline and Skid Row can be skied to Warren’s Way, then to Easy Way and down to the Bear Chair. Spectators can see the race finish from the bottom of Alpine or from the Bear’s Den at the top of the Bear Chair. More event details are available here.

#2 – FREESTYLE Competition
Saturday and Sunday, the ISSA is hosting a set of slopestyle competitions in the terrain park on Rodeo. That run will be closed from 12-2 pm each day.
If you’d like to compete, you can sign up in the lodge at 10:00 am. More event info here.
Spectators are welcome to view this event from the side of Rodeo (accessed from North below the steep slope). As you can see from this photo of the last event, it will be fun to watch these competitors style it up! (Please note: our terrain park on BEAR will be open all weekend for public riding – no competitions there).
#3 – FRIENDLY Competition
If you find yourself inspired by the fierce competition on Alpine, you have a chance to test your own mettle between the gates. We invite you to join us for our FREE Race Clinic and Rookie Race on Saturday. You can sign up from 9:00 am – 10:15 am at the event tent right in front of the ticket office.
The clinic will take place from 10:30 – 11:30, and the Rookie Race will run from noon – 2:00 pm on the side of Griz/Thumper. No runs will be closed for this race. The clinic and race are FREE for anyone with a lift ticket or season pass. More info is available here.
