Chase your own Race Pace
You like the feeling of speeding down a groomed slope, the rhythm of swooshing through round, even turns. As you look over toward that run that says ‘Closed for Race’, you can’t help but wonder, “Could I do that?”.
The answer is mostly likely, YES. But for those of us who haven’t been on a race team, it can seem intimidating.
This weekend, 24 of our visitors took a step to change that, participating in our first of two FREE “Rookie Race Clinics”.
First, the group gathered for a one-hour session with two of our experienced instructors. They worked on race technique and got some valuable tips to make those gates seem a little less daunting.
Then, it was time to put those new skills to the test! Participants got the opportunity to go through the paces, just like in real races.
Coaches and timers were there at the start gate, giving the competitors (who were mostly interested in competing with themselves) a realistic race start experience.
After pushing off the start box, they tapped into their lesson to take on the gates…
Many of the rookie racers showed amazing promise…
And some planned to return for our second Rookie Race Clinic, too. It’s planned for March 13th. That’s just one week before the Brundage Mountain Winter Games, a perfect culmination for the rookie racer’s first season.
It’s always fun to learn something new or sharpen up your skills before a friendly competition. Check out the details of the Winter Games, it’s a tradition your family won’t soon forget.
