Brundage Reports First Summit Snowfall of 2023-24 Winter Season

10/11/23

It’s a sight that always lifts the spirits of skiers and snowboarders. The first snow of the season has fallen at the 7,640 foot summit of Brundage Mountain Resort. An overnight storm dropped about an inch of snow on the summit. The precipitation came down as rain in the base area.

“This first blast of snow is more symbolic than anything,” says resort spokesperson, April Whitney. “We don’t expect it to stick around long, but even a little blanket of white on the mountain gets our snow fanatics excited.”

The forecast includes a slight chance of more snow overnight Wednesday, but daytime temperatures are forecast to be well above freezing. Snow Report and Forecast

This is the first snowfall recorded at Brundage since the official start of the ‘snow year’, which was October 1. October snow is not out of the ordinary, but due to temperature fluctuations, it’s rare for snow that falls in early October to stick around for the whole season.

“This is a great reminder for any holdouts to purchase their 2023-24 Winter Season Passes. Quantities are limited again this year, and sales tend to pick up when the snow starts falling, so we advise purchasing now to make sure you don’t miss the cutoff,” adds Whitney.

Those who purchase prior to November 30 can save up to $100 on an unlimited pass. Learn More

The Brundage faithful will be gathering one month from today to tempt more snow out of the skies. Brundage Mountain is hosting its annual Pray for Snow Party at McCall’s Ponderosa Center on Saturday, November 11. The party kicks off at 4:00 pm with live music, food & drinks, gear giveaways, and fire pits to keep everyone warm. Teton Gravity Research’s newest film, “Legend Has It” premieres at 6:30 pm. Admission to the event is free. Event details.
