Best Day of the Season!

12/14/12

What a sweet day on the slopes…

Today will definitely rank at the top of our opening day memories.

We were happy to welcome powder-hungry guests to the mountain AND be able to deliver some sweet powder!

Our most eager skier arrived before 7 am to stand in line for first chair.

You’ve got to admire passion and dedication like that! Zane Hardin was already staking out his spot in line when our lift crews arrived this morning.

Zane was one of more than 100 people lined up and ready to help us kick off the 2012-2013 season.

Lift Operations Manager Scott Bourne pulled the ribbon…and the season was officially underway.

The guys in the second chair were just as stoked as the guys in the first chair…

And here’s a look at why. PLENTY of powder all over the mountain for our visitors to enjoy.

Lakeview was especially impressive today. Soft and forgiving – even though our legs are in ‘early season condition’.

The groomers were in fantastic shape, too. Telemarker Chris didn’t hesitate to lay down an aggressive tele-carve on Dropline.

Slopes were surprisingly forgiving and well covered, even in spots that aren’t normally deep enough to ski on opening day.

It was even a great beginning for our aspiring powder hounds.

Several parents took advantage of the soft, forgiving corduroy to get their kids an early start on Easy Street.

(I don’t know if you remember learning to ski, but it’s always a little more fun when you fall on a nice, soft cushion.)

And it looks like our cushion could be getting even more plush. We’ve got a Winter Storm Advisory in effect for this weekend.

That’s just one MORE reason to smile on Opening Day.

See you soon!

– April
