The Bluebird Express Opens Friday, December 21

12/21/17

What a great day we had today zipping down the corduroy and hitting up the pow stashes on opening day for the Bear Chair.

Bear Chair Powder – Today – December 21, 2017

We’re expecting even bigger smiles tomorrow as we open for top-to-bottom skiing and riding. The Bluebird Quad will be open from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm.

And while early season conditions are a reality on the lower and south-facing slopes (as you can see in the photo above). Snow coverage is vastly improved on the upper slopes (photo below).

Slope conditions are shaping up to be really superb on Temptation and Lakeview Ridge.

We’ll have 2+ miles groomed between those two runs and after taking a quick preview lap this afternoon, I can tell you, it doesn’t feel very ‘early season’ up here.

The slopes are super smooth and the snow is soft and forgiving.

Off trail, even experts will want to stick to the upper slopes. There’s a lot of brush on the lowest pitches.

Alpine, Engen and 45th Parallel will be opened tomorrow, but they have not been groomed, so we ask that you use as abundance of caution as you charge this early-season pow.

Slopes North of the Bluebird are CLOSED tomorrow. But from the look of the forecast, we’ll be getting more snow very soon, and that means more terrain is in our future.

See you on the slopes!
