Winter's About to Get Even Cooler at McCall's Activity Barn
It’s not too often you see us writing about things to do outside of our favorite winter playground here at Brundage Mountain. But sometimes, the things happening in other parts of the McCall area are just too cool to ignore.
That’s the case this winter at the Activity Barn, Valley County’s only lift-assisted snow tubing operation, located two miles south of McCall. A big expansion project is underway to help this popular snow tubing hill blossom into a multi-use recreation area for the whole family.
New ‘Magic Carpet’
A new 600-foot Sun Kid conveyer (commonly known as a magic carpet) is being installed this month. It will comfortably transport guests to the top of the hill in less than three minutes, tripling uphill capacity.
Crews plan to construct up to six 800-foot tubing lanes and have purchased an extra 100 tubes to keep the traffic flowing and maximize the fun.
As you see in the photo below, work is underway now at the Activity Barn site to install the electrical lines for the new conveyor, which is set to arrive next week.
New Rail Park & Beginner Ski Lessons
Skiers and snowboarders will be able to use the new conveyor to make laps on a new rail park at the site. The Brundage Mountain Ski & Ride School will be providing beginner ski lessons on gentle, groomed slopes at the Activity Barn on weekends, holidays and by reservation. This convenient location has a slope that is ideal for learning, so families new to the sport can flatten out the learning curve and sharpen their skills quickly.
Plans also include the construction of a second warming yurt, a new ticketing facility and a parking lot expansion which will double the amount of parking available.
New snowmaking equipment will give the Activity Barn a good shot at being open for Thanksgiving weekend, temperatures permitting, of course.
We’re so excited about the new vibe at the Activity Barn that Brundage Mountain is hosting its Pray for Snow Party at the new, improved facility on Friday, November 27.
We hope you’ll come join us and check out the new set up!
