Crazy Days 2014: Powder to the People

04/05/14

Costume and Pond Skim 884031This year’s spring fling was a delightful combination of fresh powder and end-of-season antics. After a morning of enjoying some amazing powder turns, an enthusiastic crowd gathered around the pond for a raucous costume contest dance-off and fierce pond skimming competition.

We started out with snow falling, but before the first round was over, the sun broke through and joined the party.

We invite you to take a look at a few of the moments we won’t soon forget…

We’d also like to thank our M.C., Ethan Savage, for his color commentary and for kicking the event off with a stirring rendition of the national anthem:

Our DEEPEST gratitude goes out to the volunteers from the Cascade Fire Department who took some icy shots and did LOTS of heavy lifting to make sure our skimmers could exit the pond safely.

We were all impressed that one competitor managed to successfully skim the pond backwards:

We were happy to see our new Managing Director, Bob Looper, experience Pond Skimming first-hand:

(He made it through the first two rounds successfully)

AND we felt our heartstrings vibrating a bit as three generations of Hurlbutt men skimmed the pond together.

70 year old Frank Hurlbutt:

39 year old Matt Hurlbutt:

and 6 year old Billy Hurlbutt:

(How cool is that???)

Still, that barely scratches the surface of memories made today. We can’t overlook the 4-6″ of fresh powder we enjoyed in the morning:

Here are more highlights as costume-clad-go-pro-wearing skiers, snowboarders, telemarkers (and even a monoboarder) helped us celebrate our season ender in classic Crazy Days style:

Despite all the great times, this is not QUITE the end. We will be open for one Bonus Weekend – April 12 & 13 – from 9:30 to 4:30.

And we have some special deals for the last weekend of the season:

The price of a full-day adult lift ticket will be reduced to just $25. Junior and Senior tickets will cost just $15. Kids 11 & under are free.

In addition, 2013/14 Mid-Week Club Card holders are invited to ski for free on April 12 & 13.

Closing Day is Sunday April 13 – in addition to the discounts listed above, Brundage Season Pass Holders are invited to bring a friend for free on Sunday, April 13.

Anyone who purchased a 2013/14 Multi-day Select Card also gets a bonus. Normally, Select Cards can be redeemed for just one lift ticket per day. However, Select Card holders can now redeem as many of their remaining tickets as they would like in one day.

We hope you’ll join us for one last hurrah and we bring the 2013/14 season to a close.

– April
