This doesn’t have to happen – the danger signs are usually obvious to those who know what to look for. Just as those in Hawaii learn about the dangers of rip currents and shore breaks at an early age\, those living\, working\, and recreating in snowy mountains need to learn about avalanches. What they learn can save their lives. \nThe Know Before You Go program takes 40-80 minutes presentation that consists of:\n A video showing the destructive power of avalanches and what you need to know to stay safe in avalanche terrain\n Discussion with question and answers \nFor more info about the Know before you Go program please visit their website. https://kbyg.org/#home \n  \n

SUMMARY:Diva Day - SheJumps Avalanche Awareness Class
DESCRIPTION:Gone are the days when women would defer to their male counterparts for safe travel in the backcountry. The ratio of men to women is shifting into an even split\, and no one in avalanche country should rely on friends — male or female — to lead them through the playground in safety. Thanks to organizations such as SheJumps\, Friends of the Payette Avalanche Center\, and our Brundage Ski Patrol and Backcountry Cat Ski Guides we are here to help women increase their outdoor skills\, and gain confidence in decision-making and learn to trust their intuition while sharpening their knowledge in the backcountry. \nBecause women often learn differently\, an all-female course can create a unique environment that caters to female interaction and support. When women get together to hone hard skills and talk backcountry safety\, the result can be remarkable. \nOur all-female instructors will teach the basics of playing in avalanche terrain. Participants will be introduced to the basics in avalanche education including how to use your safety gear\, an intro to snow science and safe travel in avalanche terrain. \nWhat to Bring: Beacon\, probe\, shovel\, gear to be outside. \nSpace is limited to 30. \nCost is a $10.00 donation to SheJumps \nRegistration will be on Eventbrite – https://www.eventbrite.com/e/id-shejumps-get-the-girls-out-brundage-diva-day-tickets-87997245129

SUMMARY:Homegrown Music Series in Upper Lot Pub
DESCRIPTION:Après with us in the Upper Lot Pub with our new Homegrown Music Series. \nCome relax after a day on the slopes with friends and family (21 & older) and enjoy an afternoon of live local music\, good food\, and Sunday drink specials.  We are stoked to be  showcasing talented local musicians throughout the winter. \nThe first local musician we will showcase is Joe Sullivan. \nJoe Sullivan’s songs are rooted in folk\, Appalachian\, country and blues. He takes pride in his original tunes and genuine performances. Joe has been playing in Idaho and Montana with his current local bluegrass band\, Jughandle Parade\, for the past two years. His solo sets are an intimate opportunity to hear material that might not fit the foot stomping rhythm and pace of the Jughandlers. Influences include John Prine\, Langhorn Slim\, Norah Jones\, Gillian Welch\, and the Woodbrothers. \nJoes musical career started in upstate New York\, where he grew up. Playing out consistently from the age of 14\, he found fast paced folk/americana his style of choice. His college band\, “Woodworks” produced two albums in the four years together. “Make It Your Self” followed by “Budros” featured original tunes written by Sullivan. The bands momentum came to a halt when Joe moved to Salmon Id. It wasn’t until ending up in McCall four years later that he would find his current project\, Jughandle Parade. Joe is working on his first solo album comprised of select original tunes from over a decade of song writing.
